Marissa Perry is a coffee addict. She has been a member of the actors equity association since 2004. Best known (so far!) in the starring role, Tracy Turnblad, in Hairspray on broadway. Marissa was a part of the closing cast of Hairspray and was one of 5 women who played the role full time in the almost 7 years Hairspray existed on the great white way. When Marissa moved to NYC she booked David Zipple’s newest show called Princesses. Marissa originated the role of the quirky best friend, Kit. Princesses was broadway bound, but eventually momentum was lost. the show never made it. however, Princesses turned out to be full of future Broadway stars, Jenny Felner, Mary Faber, Patti Murin, Lindsay Mendez, Sierra Boggess. Just to name a few.

In 2007, Marissa booked one of the very first regional productions of Hairspray. On opening night, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, composer and lyricist of Hairspray, ended up stopping by to see the show. After meeting privately with Marc and Scott, they helped fascilitate a meeting with Broadway producers which led to her FIRST broadway contract as the Tracy stand by in the Broadway company of Hairspray. Eventually, Marissa was bumped up and given the role full time. Marissa has had the great honor of recreating her role as Tracy in Chicago and in Boston where she was nominated for a Jeff Award and an IRNE award, both for best leading actress in a musical. Marissa has performed all over the country and has guest starred in many cabaret shows and special events.

Currently, Marissa is covering one of her best friends, Sarah Bolt, as sister Mary Patrick in sister act on broadway. She is a part of an elite ensemble of feisty female high belters and will be sad to see the show lights dim on August 26th 2012. Some of her other credits include Suzy in The Marvelous Wonderettes, Maria in My Big Gay Italian Wedding, Trudy in Empire and Annabelle Glick in Lucky Stiff. Marissa enjoys teaching theater classes, working out and inspiring others to follow and achieve their dreams. please visit
